North Grand Ravines offers deep wooded ravines and dramatic views of the Grand River. The lodge on the property is being renovated for public use. South Grand Ravines is currently a farm with a small parking area and trails. The barn on the property will soon be renovated to be open for public use. In fall of 2015 the county will open its first enclosed off-leash dog park at this site.
March 1 through October 15: 7am to 10pm
October 16 through February 28: 7am to 8pm
There are no entry fees.
Dogs on leash are permitted at Grand Ravines North year round, but on trails only from May 1 through September 30. For the safety and enjoyment of all park guests, pets must be on ten foot leashes and under control. Dogs are permitted year round, off leash at Grand Ravines South. Owners must clean up after their pet and dispose of waste in a trash receptacle. Grand Ravines South will soon be home to the county’s first enclosed off-leash dog park. Leader dogs for persons with disabilities are permitted at any time. Recognizing that most dogs enjoy running and playing freely, Ottawa County Open Space Lands allow dogs year-round off leash.
Coming Soon to Grand Ravines SouthPremiere off-leash dog park
Includes 21-acres of enclosed dog park, with separated fenced areas for large and small dogs. Additionally, there will be fenced trails for off-leash walking.
The Parks & Recreation Commission has already built the parking lot and support facilities and has allocated $75,000 toward building the park, but that will only pay for fencing and trails. In order to include the amenities that will make it a gold star facility, we will be seeking funding from local businesses and residents.
Additional funding is for:
- Water service and doggy fountains
- Waste stations
- Additional paved paths and benches
- Modern restrooms
- Picnic tables and a shelter area
A local pet store, Chow Hound, is already on board. Chow Hound has committed to matching customer donations up to $10,000, for a maximum donation of $20,000. With Chow Hound’s pledged support, we are 25% of the way there.
To make a donation, please visit this page or your local Chow Hound. Stay tuned for our unveiling of the dog park this fall.
